Ganguly to captain Kolkata team in IPL

Eden Gardens had quite a few high-profile visitors on Monday as the IPL Chairman Lalit Modi visited Kolkata to discuss the upcoming bidding process for players.

Modi, alongwith representatives from Shahrukh Khan's Red Chilly Entertainment inspected the Eden, before settling down to a long chat with CAB officials and Sourav Ganguly, who is the captain of the Kolkata team.

The bidding for the players is slated for February 20th, and each team will be allowed a maximum budget of 5 million dollars to purchase their players.

Modi also said that teams can have a maximum of 4 foreign internationals playing at the same time, and each team must also have a minimum of 4 local players.

He also added that each venue will get Rs. 10 crores to host the matches as well as clarified that disputes with Cricket Australia over sponsorship issues will be resolved.

Sourav Ganguly confirms to CNN-IBN that he will captain Kolkata team. With 8 teams bidding, it will be a tough race.

"I would love to have Kallis, Gilchrist, Lee, Pollock, Warne, Afridi and Yousuf in my team. It is disappointing to be dropped from the ODIs after scoring so many runs. We however need to give Dhoni all the support he needs."
